Privacy policy

Last updated: 17 April 2026

This page explains what information Kuppi ("we") collects, how we use it, and your choices. Kuppi is a non-commercial learning platform for Sri Lankan students.

1. What we collect

When you sign up, we collect your name, email, and basic academic profile (role, level, field of study, and optional district, institution, medium, and preferred language).

When you use Kuppi we also store content you create — messages, Q&A posts, course materials, offers, requests, and similar — together with timestamps.

Technical data (IP address, browser version, approximate location) may be logged by our hosting provider and by Google services we use for sign-in and analytics.

2. How we use it

  • To operate the platform and provide the features you use.
  • To display your content (profile, Q&A answers, course materials, etc.) to other users where you've chosen to share it.
  • To send transactional emails — sign-in codes and notifications about activity on your account.
  • To investigate abuse and enforce our community guidelines.

3. Who we share with

We don't sell your data. Kuppi uses:

  • Google Firebase — authentication and database hosting.
  • Google AdSense — to display ads that help keep the service free. AdSense may set cookies to personalise ads, which you can opt out of through your Google account settings.
  • Our email provider — to deliver sign-in codes and notifications.

4. Cookies and local storage

Kuppi uses cookies and local/offline storage to keep you signed in and to enable the Progressive Web App features (offline access, notifications). You can clear these any time from your browser.

5. Children

Kuppi is intended for students in Sri Lanka, including O/L students who may be minors. If you are under 13, please use Kuppi with a parent or guardian. Parents can request access to or deletion of a child’s data through the contact page.

6. Your choices

  • You can edit your profile any time at /profile.
  • You can sign out from the profile page or the account menu.
  • You can request data export or account deletion by emailing us at hello@kuppi.edu.lk.

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data — encrypted transport (HTTPS), server-side auth token verification, and restricted access to production systems. No service can promise perfect security; if you learn of a security issue, please email report@kuppi.edu.lk.

8. Changes

We may update this policy. If the change is significant we'll flag it on the site. Continuing to use Kuppi after an update means you accept the new policy.
